Magnesium Oxide Is Produced By Liquid Magnesium Chloride
Magnesium oxide is abundant in nature in seawater, salt lake water, underground salt mines and other places, mostly in the form of magnesium chloride aqueous solution. Hydrates of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12 crystal water can be crystallized in the aqueous solution of magnesium chloride, and the high hydrates can be decomposed into low hydrates by heat.
Hexahydrate is stable in the temperature range from -3.4 ℃ to 116.7℃. When the temperature exceeds 118 degrees, the crystal water is lost and hydrogen chloride gas is released to form magnesium oxide.
The reserves of magnesium chloride are not only large, but also widely distributed. The byproducts of salt fields in coastal provinces and cities are abundant in brine, and the underground brine in the Gulf area is abundant, and the inland salt lakes and underground brine are also abundant.
Magnesium chloride itself is not only widely used, but also a very important raw material for the production of magnesium oxide, light magnesium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide and other series of products.
At present, the production process of magnesium oxide with magnesium chloride as raw material mostly adopts carbonic acid method, carbonization method and base method, converting magnesium chloride into magnesium carbonate or magnesium hydroxide, and then calcining to produce magnesium oxide.
This paper mainly introduces the equipment combination and technology of direct production of magnesium oxide from magnesium chloride.
The refined magnesium chloride solution is concentrated and dried into basic magnesium chloride, which is calcined and decomposed into magnesium oxide, then hydrogen chloride gas is released, which is absorbed into hydrochloric acid or directly converted into calcium chloride and other products.
